Owen's Third Birthday!

My DS really wanted a rainbow birthday cake, so I tried to come up with something that wasn't to girly for DH (DS really wouldn't care...). So my solution was homemade chocolate cake, with white frosting (for the clouds) and a rainbow of fruit. Red raspberries, orange peaches, yellow pineapple, green kiwi, blue blueberries, purple grapes. The peaches and grapes came from our neighbors yard, yum!
Aiden "helping out".
We also made our own pinata! It was actually super easy to make. I made the form out of card board, and taped the pieces together. I made the base out of paper to give it a weak point. I filled it with candy and taped it shut. The next day, I had the boys help me decorate it with tissue paper (fun, but sticky craft project!). Also in rainbow-ish theme. We let it dry overnight, so that it would be ready for the party. DH strung it up for us. It worked really well! The pinata was strong enough to last through all of the kids having a couple of turns wacking it, but it only took an 8 yo to crack it open.
